Az-Zumar, Surah The Groups (Qur'an: Surat-39-Az-Zumar)
Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem
39/Az-Zumar-1:
The descent of the Book is from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
39/Az-Zumar-2:
Surely We have sent down the Book to you with the truth, therefore become a servant to Allah making the Religion pure for Him (as being a Muhlis).
39/Az-Zumar-3:
The pure Religion is for Allah, is not it? And those who took friends besides Him (Allah), (said): “We only worship them (idols) that they may make us nearer to Allah”. Surely Allah judges between them in that which they differ. Surely Allah does not deliver those who are liars, and deniers to HidayetH.
39/Az-Zumar-4:
If Allah had willed to take a son, He surely would have chosen whom He willed out of those whom He created. Glory be to Him (He is above all). He is Allah, the One, the Destroyer.
39/Az-Zumar-5:
(Allah) has created the heavens and the earth with the truth. He converts the night into day and the day into night. He has subjected the sun and the moon (to command). They all run on to an assigned term (in their orbit). Is not He the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving?
39/Az-Zumar-6:
He created you from a single soul, then made from it his wife. And he has sent down for you eight pairs of the four legged animals. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, a creation after a creation (changing your form from one to another), in three stages of darkness. This is your Lord, Allah. His is the Dominion. There is no god but He. Yet, how then are you still turned away?
39/Az-Zumar-7:
If you deny, surely Allah is Self-Sufficient (doesn’t need you). And He is not Pleased with disbelief (ungratefulness) for His servants. And if you are grateful, He becomes Pleased with you. No bearer of burdens bears the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return. So He will inform you of what you used to do. Surely He is the All-Knower of what is in the bosoms.
39/Az-Zumar-8:
And when some harm touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him. Then when (Allah) bestows a Blessing upon him from Himself, he forgets that he called upon Him before. He sets up equals to Allah, in order to mislead (others) from His Way. Say: “Enjoy yourself in your disbelief a little; surely you are of the inmates of hell”.
39/Az-Zumar-9:
Is the one who is obedient (to Allah, worships Allah devoutly) during hours of the night, prostrating himself and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the Mercy of Allah? Say: “Are those who know and those who do not know ever equal? Only the ûli’l elbâb (the owners of the continuous remembrance, the owners of the secret divine treasures) understand”.
39/Az-Zumar-10:
Say: “O my servants, who believe, be the owners of piety towards your Lord! There is good for those who are the best of the best in this world and Allah’s earth is spacious. But the patient are paid back their reward without measure.
39/Az-Zumar-11:
Say: “Certainly I am commanded that I should become a servant to Allah, making the religion pure for Him”.
39/Az-Zumar-12:
And I am commanded to be the first of those who is submitted.
39/Az-Zumar-13:
Say: “If I rebel against my Lord, I fear the torment of a great Day”.
39/Az-Zumar-14:
Say: “I become a servant to Allah, making my religion pure for Him”.
39/Az-Zumar-15:
Worship then what you like besides Him. Say: “Surely those who make themselves and their families fall into Loss are those who will be exposed to Loss on the Day of Resurrection”. Is not this a clear Loss?
39/Az-Zumar-16:
For them there are shadows (coverings) of Fire, above them and shadows beneath them. Just like that Allah frightens His servants with that. O My servants! Therefore have piety towards Me.
39/Az-Zumar-17:
And those who saved themselves from being servants to At-Tâghût (human and jinn Satans). Because they turned to Allah (they wished to reach Allah while alive). For them there are glad tidings. Therefore give good tidings to My servants!
39/Az-Zumar-18:
They listen to the Word, then follow the best of it. Those are they whom Allah caused to attain Hidayet. And those it is who are ûli’l elbâb (the owners of the continuous Dhikr, the owners of the secret divine treasures).
39/Az-Zumar-19:
Then if the Word of the torment is justified upon one, can you rescue him who is in the Fire?
39/Az-Zumar-20:
But those who have piety towards their Lord, for them are built lofty mansions (high ranks) one above another under which the rivers flow. The Promise of Allah that Allah never fails in His Promise.
39/Az-Zumar-21:
Have you not seen that Allah sends down water from the sky, and then makes it to join the springs? Then brings forth therewith crops of various colors. Then it withers so that you see it yellow. Then He makes it a dry stick. Most surely there is indeed a reminder (lesson) for ûli’l elbâb (the owners of the continuous Dhikr, the owners of the secret treasures of Allah).
39/Az-Zumar-22:
Whose heart Allah slit for Islam (to submit to Allah) so that he is upon a glorious light from his Lord, is not he? Woe to those whose hearts are darkened (and hardened) from the Remembrance (Dhikr) of Allah! Those are in a manifest Misguidance.
39/Az-Zumar-23:
Allah sent down the most beautiful (among His glorious lights, mercy, virtues and benedictions) ones in pairs (benedictions-mercy and benedictions-virtue) as similar to the Book. With those (glorious lights), the skins of those who have reverence tremble. Then with the Dhikr of Allah (remembering and repeating the Name of Allah), their skins and their hearts (souls’ hearts) get softer (find peace). This is the “HİDAYET” of Allah, delivers with that whomever He wills to Hidayet. And for him whom Allah leaves in Misguidance, there is none who can take him to HİDAYET.
39/Az-Zumar-24:
Then, who may guard his face (his physical body) from the evil torment on the Day of Resurrection? And it will be said to the wrongdoers: “Taste what you have earned (the punishment of your sins)”.
39/Az-Zumar-25:
Those before them belied (too), therefore the torment came to them from whence they did not perceive.
39/Az-Zumar-26:
So Allah made them taste the disgrace in the life of the world, and certainly the torment of the Hereafter is greater. Did they but know!
39/Az-Zumar-27:
And certainly We have set forth to mankind in this Qur’ân examples of every sort. It is hoped that they may deliberate (consider).
39/Az-Zumar-28:
(This is) an Arabic Qur’ân without any crookedness (contradictions, flaws). It is hoped that they may become the owners of piety.
39/Az-Zumar-29:
Allah set forth this example: ‘Is the case of a man who is a partner with several others who are differing one another be same with a man submitting to one man only’? Praise be to Allah. But most of them know not.
39/Az-Zumar-30:
Surely you are subject to death too and they certainly are subject to death as well.
39/Az-Zumar-31:
Then surely on the Day of Resurrection in your Lord’s Presence you will be defendants and plaintiffs.
39/Az-Zumar-32:
Then who does more wrong then one who utters a lie against Allah and denies the truth (of reaching Allah before death) when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers?
39/Az-Zumar-33:
And he who comes with the truth (who calls others to make a wish to reach Allah) and he who confirmed it (those who wish to reach Allah before death), they are the owners of piety.
39/Az-Zumar-34:
All that they wished are for them in the presence of their Lord. This is the reward of the Muhsinûn (good-doers).
39/Az-Zumar-35:
Allah covers even the worst of what they did (their sins) and gives them their reward for the best of what they have done (changes their evil deeds into merits).
39/Az-Zumar-36:
Is not Allah Sufficient for His servant? And they seek to frighten you with those besides Him (with other gods, idols). Whomsoever Allah leaves in Misguidance, there is no one to give him Hidayet (Mahdi) for him.
39/Az-Zumar-37:
And whomever Allah delivers to Hidayet, there is none that can make him fall into Misguidance. Is not Allah All-Mighty, Possessor of Revenge?
39/Az-Zumar-38:
And assuredly, if you should ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth”, they would most certainly say: “Allah”. Say: “Have you then seen what you called upon besides Allah”? If Allah willed some harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if Allah willed some Mercy for me, could they withhold His mercy, they trust in Him (take Him as a surrogate).
39/Az-Zumar-39:
Say: “O my people! Work in your place (do your best, wherever you are)! Surely I will too. So you will come to know soon”.
39/Az-Zumar-40:
To whom comes a disgracing torment and on whom descends a lasting torment.
39/Az-Zumar-41:
Surely, We have sent down to you the Book for the mankind with the truth. So whoever reaches Hidayet, it is for his own soul and whoever remains in Misguidance, he is in Misguidance against himself. And you are not a surrogate upon them.
39/Az-Zumar-42:
Allah causes the physical bodies to die at the time of death. And those who are in their sleep, they are not dead, then He retains the one who will be decreed to die (the physical body of the person in the state of sleep) and sends the other (the soul) till an appointed term (wherever it desires to go in a dream). Most surely there are signs (lessons) in this for a people who reflect.
39/Az-Zumar-43:
Or have they taken intercessors besides Allah? Say: “Even if they have power over nothing whatsoever and are not mindful”?
39/Az-Zumar-44:
Say: “Allah’s is the intercession altogether. The dominion of the heavens and the earth is His. Then to Him you shall be brought back”.
39/Az-Zumar-45:
And when Allah’s Oneness is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter (in reaching Allah before death) get shivered with hatred. When those besides Him are mentioned, they rejoice.
39/Az-Zumar-46:
Say: “O My Allah! You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, All-Knower of the Unseen and the Seen! You will judge between your servants about that in which they used to differ”.
39/Az-Zumar-47:
And if the wrong-doers had all that is in the earth and the like of it with it, they would certainly offer it as ransom (to be saved) from the evil of the torment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will become apparent to them from Allah what they had not been reckoning.
39/Az-Zumar-48:
And the evil (sins and bad deeds) of what they earned became obvious to them and the very thing (the torment) they mocked at surrounded them.
39/Az-Zumar-49:
When harm touches a man, he calls upon Us. Then, when We send him a blessing from Us, he says: “I have been given this only because of a knowledge”. Nay, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.
39/Az-Zumar-50:
Those before them also did say (the very same thing) indeed, but whatever they earned did not benefit them.
39/Az-Zumar-51:
So the evil (sins, bad deeds) touched them. And those who did wrong of those, the evil of what they earn will soon touch them, and they do not have the power to prevent the torment.
39/Az-Zumar-52:
Do they not know that Allah enlarges the sustenance for whom He wills, and straitens for whom He wills? Most surely there are Sings in this for a people who believe.
39/Az-Zumar-53:
Say: “O My servants who have acted extravagantly (crossed the line) against their own souls! Do not despair of the Mercy of Allah. Surely Allah forgives (changes into rewards) the sins altogether. He surely, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (the One that sends the Glorious light of Mercy).
39/Az-Zumar-54:
And turn to your Lord (wish to make your spirit reach Allah while you are alive)! And submit to Him (Allah) (submit your spirit, your physical body, your soul and your free will to Allah) before the torment comes upon you, then (otherwise) you will not be helped.
39/Az-Zumar-55:
And follow (depend on) the best of that (the order) which is sent down to you from your Lord, before the torment comes on you suddenly while you do not even perceive!
39/Az-Zumar-56:
(Don’t be) a person who should say: “O woe to me, for all that in which I have exceeded the limit concerning my going away from Allah, and I was indeed of those who mocked”.
39/Az-Zumar-57:
Or (don’t be one of those who) shall say: “If Allah had delivered me to Hidayet, I would certainly have been of those who are the owners of piety”.
39/Az-Zumar-58:
Or (don’t be one of those who) should say when he sees the torment: “If only I had another chance, then I should indeed be of the Muhsinûn (good-doers)”.
39/Az-Zumar-59:
But, My Verses had come to you, yet you belied them, and you were proud and you were of the disbelievers.
39/Az-Zumar-60:
And on the Day of Resurrection you see the faces of those who lied against Allah blackened. Is there not in Hell an abode for the proud?
39/Az-Zumar-61:
And Allah saves those who have piety because of being the owners of Feyz (because the light of calmness has reached them). Evil (torment) does not touch them, nor do they grieve.
39/Az-Zumar-62:
Allah is the Creator of everything and He is a Surrogate over all things.
39/Az-Zumar-63:
His are the treasures of the heavens and the earth. Those who disbelieve in the Verses of Allah, these it is that are in Loss (Husrân).
39/Az-Zumar-64:
Say: “O you ignorant ones! Do you order me to become a servant to something other than Allah”?
39/Az-Zumar-65:
And certainly it has been revealed to you and to those before you: “Surely if you associate (if you do not wish to reach Allah before death), all your deeds would certainly be rendered vain, and you would certainly be of those who fall into a Loss.
39/Az-Zumar-66:
Therefore, now become a servant to Allah! And be of the grateful.
39/Az-Zumar-67:
And they could not esteem Allah as He has the right to be esteemed. The whole earth is in His grip (control) on the Day of Resurrection and the skies will have been rolled up in His Hand. Glory be to Him. And He is exalted above what they associate (with Him).
39/Az-Zumar-68:
And the Trumpet had been blown, all those who are in the skies and all those who are on the earth had been passed away, except those Allah willed. Then when it (Trumpet) is blown again, they look around, standing.
39/Az-Zumar-69:
And the earth is enlightened with the Light of your Lord, and the book is laid down. The prophets and the witnesses are brought forward, and the judgment is given between them with justice without any wrong-doing.
39/Az-Zumar-70:
And every soul (individual) is paid back fully what he has done, and He knows best what they do.
39/Az-Zumar-71:
And those who disbelieved are driven to Hell in groups. When they come to it, its (hell’s) doors open and the keepers of it (hell) say to them: “Did not Messengers of your own come to you, reciting (reading and explaining) to you the Verses of your Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours”? They (people of hell) said: “Yes (they did come)”, but the Word of torment has been justified upon the disbelievers.
39/Az-Zumar-72:
It was said (to them): “Enter through the Gates of hell to abide therein forever”! So evil is the Abode of the arrogant!
39/Az-Zumar-73:
And those who are the owners of piety towards their Lord (after having seen hell) get conveyed to heaven in groups. When they come to it (heaven), its (heaven’s) doors open, and the keepers of it (heaven) say to them: “Peace be on you, you have been cleared (exonerated), enter it (heaven) to abide forever.
39/Az-Zumar-74:
And the people of heaven said: “Praise is due to Allah, Who has been loyal to His Promise. And has made us inherit this land (in heaven). We can dwell in heaven where ever we will”. How excellent the reward for the doers (of improving deeds)!
39/Az-Zumar-75:
And you see the angels surrounding ‘beyond existence’, glorify their Lord with His Praise. And judgment was given between them (people of heaven) with justice. And it was said (by the people of heaven): “All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds”.
